So my playstation died. Not so much a malfunction as it decided it no longer wanted to live and died.

I bought a new one, now I am one mission away from completeing the missons on GTA5 on my (dead) playstation. Is there a way to get the save from that onto my new one?

It happened to me before. As far as I can work out, no. Unless you backed up on usb, or you had PS+ which automatically backed up online.

Have you tried putting your old ps3 hard drive into the new ps3?

That definitely won't work. New PS3 will just look to format the swapped HDD

It may be possible to extract data from your old(dead) PS3 but I don't know if the GTA save files are protected or not

Data transfer won't work either unless you can resurrect your old one long enough to complete the job

I learnt my lesson the hard way and now everything is autosaved on PS+

There is a way op (if you got the YLOD), but only if you dont mind possibly ruining your broken PS3.

This hairdryer technique worked for me and i managed to get some saves files from my YLOD PS3, to put onto the new slim i bought.
But it melted the back vents abit... not that i minded since the thing was ruined already.

If you do attempt this, do the hairdryer until the back vents start to warp, really go to town with it, and let it cool for at least an hour or 2 before turning it on again.
