Cancelled social welfare payment

    Hi,
I made a claim for casual social welfare payment in september 2013. I was working a seasonal job, it ended in september.

I filled out all the forms, I gave them the usual, birthcert, p45, banks statements. Then I was dropping in forms everyday, I received these forms from the social welfare, i declare the days I worked. my employer signs them. I drop them back to the social welfare. I received my first payment datet 18 december 2013. I assumed there would be weekly cheques evry since I received the first large cheque. That was the only payment I received

anyway, i was dropping in the declaration for work forms regularly til February. Then I problem arose. I was away training for a new job so I was absent from my current job, a manager was away. Therefore I handed in the forms a bit later than usual. The forms were a bit slow being returned.
The new job decided not to employ me after me doing two weeks training, grrrr

anyway, I dropped the forms in declaring all my work days from 4 February to 29 March on 29 March.

social welfare called me today 31 March (via phone). They told me that my claim was cancelled. They assumed that I hadn't dropped the forms in in 6 six weeks that I wasnt availing of my claim. My question is
    1) why didnt they warn me in writing
    2) why was there no forewarning via the phone/letter to my address
    3) Have they a right to do cancel my claim, (like the way they did)
    4) Can I appealu
    5) Should I reopen my claim and go through all the procedures, it is a potential admittance of defeat
    6) What should I

and they also sent me a letter enclosing the declaration of work forms til 1 April on 22 February 2014. Thus, it was assumed knowledge that me and the social welfare knew my claim was open on 22 February.

Personally, I feel as if the cancelled my claim because they are competing with other social welfare offices and they want less claimants. They choose me as a pawn to better their statistics

The arrangement is that you return the forms as soon as the are filled. That is how that works. You didn't bother sending any for 6 weeks. Why didn't you post them? You think that SW should send you a letter or even phone you to warn you? Do you know how many people are on the dole? What are you talking about competing saw offices??
