That really is a shìt haircut Arnie was given, even he hated it, though the director required he have that style :pac:

Looks ok, nothing stands out (Sam Worthington was unrecognisable at first) in that trailer but I'll watch anything with Arnie in it and this seems to be a film with his trademark cheese reigned in a bit.

Grandpa Arnie is no longer believable as an action hero.

Last Stand and escape plan were decent films. So will definitely be watching this.

Red band trailer is up. Looking forward to this.

Only watched half that trailer as it was obviously the entire film boiled down into 3 minutes but it looks really good. I really enjoyed Escape Plan and honestly this looks like it's more of the same with Arnie chewing the scenery and happily spraying the walls red. At least Arnie seems to be embracing his second coming and is trying something a little interesting and the minute I saw of the above trailer was still better than anything in A Good Day to Die Hard

Just wondering if anybody has seen this over in the States yet? It appears to be getting slated by a lot of reviewers and it hasn't taken in a lot of money in its opening weekend.

I hear its a very different movie for Arnie and he does his best to act but his lack of skill in this department is highlighted by the stronger cast surrounding him. Apparently, the trailers are a bit misleading. While it is an action film it also has other elements not depicted in the trailer. It looks ultra-violent.

IGN give it a more positive review:

Quite enjoyed this. Bit different from the trailers. Cast was fairly decent. Also an Irish passport makes an appearance.

Saw it myself and thought it was alright, nothing amazing

An old Irish Passport. The guards at the immigration desk will be straight onto that.......probably.

This was quite different from the gritty, street based films David Ayer has done in the past. If I'm being honest I'd swear Arnie was given quite a bit of creative rights on this flick. I love a good violent scene as much as the next weirdo but a lot of the blood letting in this film just seemed over the top and/or unnecessary.

There were some decent action scenes but it seemed a much better idea for a film was lurking underneath the final product and it's just a pity it didn't shine through more.

When to see it this afternoon and I enjoyed it.

My one gripe was and is.
His team would have done anything for him even died. So why didn't he just say what he wanted the money for in the first place they all would have gone along with him and gone down to Mexico with him.

Was only thinking the same thing yesterday.

Browsing through the latest additions to VOD and noticed that Sabotage was no available to rent, though it seems that they wanted to keep it a secret considering that Heaven is Real seemed to be taking pride of place on the new releases page with Sabotage being buried amongst a lot of dross.

Sabotage is one of those modern action films which many wrote off based on a number of factors, it wasn't an 18 cert, Arnie is too old for this and so on. It's a film which was dumped into theaters with little in the way of publicity and was luck to last a week in the few cinemas it got show. What most fail to realise is that Sabotage is not just a good Arnie vesicle but a genuinely good film. In fact it's one of the best action thrillers in quite some time. It's a gripping, suspense filled and intelligent thriller which knows just how to use Arnie to maximum affect.

Much like with Cameron, Verhoven and McTiernan, Ayer recognizes that with the right role Arnie is one of cinemas most enjoyable presences. Much like the aforementioned filmmakers, Ayers recognised that the key to using Arnie is a script that makes use of his physicality and likability.

Arnie plays Breach, the leader of a DEA special ops team who function more like a family than work acquaintances. They're the guys you call in to take on the worst of the worst and as you'd expect they're strangely detached from the real wold and cold as hell. They live on the edge, they party hard and like all families they fight like cats and dogs but there's a respect and love for each other that's obvious. Ayer hasn't simply offered up the usual stereotypes and cliches but rather created sympathetic, humane characters whose flaws are their most endearing qualities. There's a realism to the team and how they deal with the pressures of their jobs. It's something that Ayer has explored before and the manner in which he looks at the intimate bonds which exist between the team is brilliantly handled. There's a subtlety to it that is rarely captured onscreen and instantly brings to mind shows such as The Wire and the Shield, aswell as Ayer's previous work in End of Watch, Traingin Day and Harsh Times.

Speaking of Ayer's past work, here he once again trusts in his audience and doesn't feel the need to spell out every single plot point. Sabotage is a film in no hurry to get to it's destination and takes care to hint at the much broader canvas of the war on drugs. In the hands of a lesser filmmaker it could easily have been little more than a flimsy frame upon which to string a few set pieces but Ayer has something interesting to say.

Watching Sabotage and it's obvious that Ayer has seen blood shed first hand, the use of hand-held cameras is old hat at this stage but Ayer uses it correctly. The action is fast, furious and often bewildering but throughout it all the action is firmly in frame and never any doubt as to what is unfolding on-screen. This is a violent, visceral film which doesn't need to utilises fast edits or shaky cam in order to heighten the tension. Most refreshingly of all is that the film favors simple stunt work in favor of CGI and while much of the blood is done using software it never feels lifeless. The films most impressive set piece is a car chase through the streets of Atlanta which puts to shame most modern blockbusters and is the perfect way to sum up Sabotage. It's an old school action film, featuring a modern aging Arnie who realises that he's no longer a young man. It's everything you wanted from the Expendables and more and left me wanting to see Ayer's original cut of the film.

Darko, you sold me. I was on the fence about hunting this down, but it's on my list, now.

I always love an Arnie movie. I'd forgotten about this one for a while so I think I will try and get my hands on it now.

It's boring, predictable, quite actionless and finally.. Shit.

What a waste of a badass cast,
the twist became so predictable when you realise you're not watching an action movie but a who shot Mr Burns farce.

id give it a 6.5/10 was good but not great

I can see why some people are disappointed by the film but approaching it as a traditional Arnie action film is wrong. It's more of a thriller than an out and out action film and the action is understated and presented in a more realistic manner than you'd expect. It's not don in a highly stylised or fetishistic manner, it's raw and dirty and all the better for it.

I watched the movie with an open mind, in that, I expected it to be very mediocre based exclusively on feedback here.

How wrong I was - absolutely brilliant film, without a doubt the best Arnie's done in a very long time. Good cast, stellar action sequences and disturbingly realistic violence.

Would recommend it to anyone. A solid 9/10 from me, absolutely loved it.

The subplot didn't make sense and felt like complete filler.

Watch the first ten minutes, then the last ten. It's the only parts that contain an actual setup / resolution.

The dialogue is woeful too. Imagine those parody videos about the energy drinks (Powerthirst), for two hours.

Although, if I have to give a few positives Sam Worthington was great. The special effects were very well done. Action was paced well and engaging.

    Nearly fell over laughing when
Arnie lumbered awkwardly over the bar at the end.

It made perfect sense and was nicely played out. The film first feel the need to spoon feed the audience and add such a lot was implied rather stated. And as for the motivation behind the killings, it was nicely hinted at throughout and left to the viewer to put the pieces together.

There was at least 2 "GET DOWN!"'s in it :D

Well, it may have made sense as it's own revenge movie. But it seemed like there were two different films going on (to me). There was no cohesion. Coupled with a lack of sympathy for any of the "pumped up, sh!t spewing" characters who were
    dying one by one
, I had very little invested.

    Character motivation was off-putting too
"oh, I see you're grieving about your dead wife and son? Let's shag!".

Felt like a terrible NCIS / CSI episode.

Straight to VOD, bypass bluray and DVD!

As I said in another thread about this
His whole team proved they would die for him, So why didn't he just say what he wanted the money for and they would have joined him in going down to Mexico to get revenge.

That being said it was a fun turn your brain off and enjoy the popcorn shoot'em up.

Have to say I did enjoy this, it's probably the best of Arnie's recent offerings, and features a lot of known faces!

I think they went with a lazy ending though, none of it really made that much sense, it all kind of seemed ad hoc.

I was hoping mid way that they were going to go in a much darker direction, with
Breacher planning the robbery of the cartel's money to lure out the people who killed his family, so he could exact his revenge, even at the expense of his team
    .

Personally, I think that would have been so much better.

That was the original plot of the movie. They re edited and reshot it to change the killers identity. This explains why the movie has such a disjointed feel to it.

    Arnie's pronunciation is funny

I thought Mireille Enos was terribly miscast
