motor oil or ATF fluid for the chain?

    will motor oil or transmission fluid do for the chain lube?

    it's all i have handy atm:)

    Motor oil will do fine,but I've found it doesn't stay on the chain long in the rain.

    Motor oil is great. Any oily chain is better than any dry chain.
    Olive oil, 3-in-1 .... Lash it on, keep it off the pads and rim.

    Gear oil is best, it is designed to be sticky to adhere to components.
