    Hi all,
I'm currently organising a wedding in alvor portugal. I have approx 80 people coming down and I was wondering if anyone knows how private charter flights work. would it be feasible given the numbers flying, and if so, what price (approx) would you expect it to be. If it makes a difference, there is a small private airport in alvor with tarmac runway and a cheap landing fee.

there is websites out there but most are failing to return an e-mail.
any feed back would be appreciated.

there are a number of companies out there the rates would vary, as they if I am correct base pricing on time. Depending on availability of low cost flying to the location it can for a large group work out cheaper. But expect large deposit etc.

Many of the big names offer the service.

But considering you can fly from Ireland to Portugal high season for anything from 100 to 250 a pax, so total commercial rate 8,000 to 20,000 a charter I would doubt would come in for those figures but its worth checking.

I think a Airbus A319 private a mate of mine was once shown around was 15,000 dollars a hour, that was a very high end plan even though it was a A319 dont think it could take as much as 80 as there was office space, bedroom etc.

That's a pretty small airport. I'm not sure what aircraft could fly that route with 80 seats and safely use that runway.

I think if anyone can do it it will be cityjet. Dublin based, their avros have 95 seats so the right size and they are made for getting in and out of tight airports like London City.

They also do charter style ops for the leinster rugby team so they potentially have capacity in their fleet schedule to do one off jobs.

Worth a phone call I reckon

Bigger problem is lack of fire cover for a largish jet, no immigration.

That's Portimao airfield- with an 800m runway you won't be getting much of a big jet in there :)

You could try Faro airport, about 80km to the east of Alvor. Looks big enough for a small jet with 80+ pax
