BMW E46 Overheating

How's it going lads, in a bit of a jam at the moment. Got an E46 serviced last week and had the radiator and thermostat replaced.

Collected it and the coolant light was going on and off while driving it on Saturday. Temperature started to rise and wasn't going down, had to pull in and leave the car for a few hours to cool down. Went back later that night and drove ~1 mile back to my house.

Started it yesterday morning and it felt slightly shakey so turned it off straight away. I had a look online and didn't have much luck in finding the problem as people were saying it could need water, coolant, anti-freeze or it could be the water pump, thermostat, coolant leaking, etc.

Can't get through to the mechanic that did the work today, does anyone have any advise as to what I should do?

Yeah the most common problem on that car is the expansion bottle cracks. A hairline crack and won't show till it heats up and expends. Unless that bottle has being changed I'd hazard a guess that's what it is. U need to get the system pressurized and see where it's leaking

Disregard what I wrote. I just re read op, job was done in garage and overheats? Probably poor air bled practice, system is full of air and/or failing viscous coupling on fan.

What is it, 318, 320i etc?

Check if there is coolant in it first. I'd be calling theechamoc who.did the work to be honest. And I wouldnt drive it at all. If they overheat for too long you'll be in a whole lot more trouble.

    Might just be an airlock,

Was an airlock (air bubbles?). Bled it in the garage, running fine now.

    Thanks for the replies :)
