Signing back on a week after signing off

    After a long period of unemployment, I went for a job that I never thought I'd be able for.

    Predictably, after signing off last Wednesday... I haven't been able to do the job at all, and have been a useless wreck since starting. What's the procedure here? Will I be penalised? Will I get back on the dole at all? Will there be a long wait?

    I'm not work shy, I'm literally just incapable of doing the job.

    Just be certain that you are not in a panic and I don't mean 'only just in a panic' because it's genuinely a pretty awful state to be in. If possible, give yourself some time to get the hang of it and take each day as it comes.

    What is your employers' view? If they agree you can't do the job and basically let you go then you are in a clearer position with regard to reinstating your claim immediately. If they feel you can do the job and are choosing to leave then there may be a disqualification period before your claim can start again but I doubt if the SW would hit you with the full 9 weeks disqualification and most likely give a much shorter disqualification time, if any.
