So i finally got my Hyper 212 EVO and have OC'd my FX 6300 to 4.4GHZ stable. Temps max out at about 53 degrees.

Currently I have only the stock fans in place that came with my Corsair 200R case.

One in the back as an exhaust and one in the front.

I am going to get 2 new fans, one for the front and one for the bottom to draw in nice cool air.

So will have 3 fans pulling (2 in front, 1 in the bottom) 1 exhaust at the back and the top of the case lets hot air out also.

    What fans do you use?

I am considering the Corsair AF 120 twin pack. http://www.corsair.com/en-us/air-series-af120-performance-edition-high-airflow-120mm-fan

    Thanks

If there's one thing Corsair doesn't do well, it's fans. Particularly their bog-standard ones; they're downright awful.

If you want very high end fans, these are some of the best out there, though I haven't personally use them (yet).

Noctua fans are pretty decent as well.

The best fans I've ever used are Gentle Typhoons, but sadly they're not being manufactured any more.

I have a bunch of spare Deep Silence fans from Nanoxia that I could sell you for pretty cheap if you'd like them. They wouldn't be quite as good as the ones above, but they'd be a much better value option.

That fan spins at 2000RPM... I'll tell you right now, unless those are turned way down, your computer will sound like a jet engine.

Thanks for the reply. Would that be due to vibration? or how will they be so loud ?

They are rated at 19 Db

That's bull, to put it simply. My NF-F12s are rated at 22.4dB(A) - which is much more accurate - and at their full speed of "only" 1500RPM, they're still pretty loud.

I mean if noise doesn't bother you, go for the AF series fans (and stick SP ones on your cooler), as they're not bad fans, etc.

Thanks again. Noise isn't too much of an issue as I will be gaming mostly I can tuen them down while browsing etc.

I may get the noctura ones everyone seems to rate them

I had 3 AF120s and 2 AF140s in my Corsair 300R then in my 540 Air, they werent loud so to speak and I only had them ramp up when needed. They were controlled by a fan controller. I'm going custom loop now so I put them up for sale on adverts if they're any interest to you. Noctua do make some of the best fans but they're expensive and probably the ugliest fan made, its a pity they don't do a color change !

Arctic F12 are very underrated budget fans. I have 3 of them in my case and they are the quietest and push the most air over the cases NZXT performance fans.

If you running them off a mobo header buy the aboce as they're PWM. If your running them off a controller, buy these ones and save a few £'s.

I might get in touch with you about those Deep Silence fans :). Why do you not need them? I have the DS1 case which came with the 2 120s and 1 140... great fans, near silent at half speed and very tolerable even at max RPM.

Hi, i suggest the NB-eLoop 120mm it's very high quality fans with low noise and hi static pressure and looks awesome.

Got some F12's one the way will put them.both on the front and move the stock ones about. Was reading that removing exhaust fan on the back can improve airflow, does anyone have experience of this?

I've never heard that and it tbh sounds counter intuitive.

There's two schools of thought on this but I like to keep positive air pressure in the case. Ie. slightly more intake than exhaust. This helps keep dust from creeping in from all the little nooks and crannies around the case where panels meet, where 5.25" bay drivers, controllers etc sit. You need a good exhaust system though to stop all the hot air from just sitting around inside the case.

Negative pressure is the other option, meaning more exhaust than intake. The idea is this set up will expel all possible hot air from the case providing maximum cool air to components. The downside is you will be sucking air, and more importantly dust, in from all the above mention nooks and crannies. The dust will cover you components which in turn will build up heat and defeat the purpose. Plus your build will look pants covered in dust!

tl;dr work with convection, intake front and low, exhaust back and high. Keep slightly positive pressure, more intake than exhaust, doesn't have to be a huge difference, eg 3 intake fans to 2 exhaust fans of similar performance.

I purchased 3 packs of these -> Corsair Air Series SP120 High Performance Edition (CO-9050008-WW) 2 for a push/pull Thermaltake 2.0 Pro AIO and 4 on side of the case. I use positive pressure to try and reduce the dust inside my case. These fans are by FAR the QUIETEST!! fans I have come across in all my years of computing. Before I used 4 Cooler Master Excalibur 120mm PWM Computer Case Fan (R4-EXBB-20PK-R0) for my side case and the original white fans for my AIO and these fans on full blast 2350rpm make as much noise as the Excaliburs did on 50% load ( about 1100~rpm ). I keep all these fans on 100% nonstop.
