Rent Allowance - monthly form filling?

I'm a single mother, I work part time and I receive a reduced rent allowance payment towards my rent, I've been getting it monthly by cheque for close to two years now. I get re-assessed every 6-9 months, and twice when my working hours changed.

Last week I received no cheque, and when I phoned to ask why I was told it was suspended as I didn't supply my monthly pay slip? The woman says I have to supply one every month, along with a form every month?
They have never told me this before, is this new? They didn't contact me at all about this, first thing I knew I hadn't got enough to pay my rent!

Can anyone tell me if this is normal?

No, it is not normal. They can pretty much request whatever documentation they want as often as they want but they can't change the rules, fail to inform you of the change and then cut you off because you didn't meet the new rules. Phone the woman back and politely but firmly put your case. Also write a letter setting out your case and bring it to your CWO immediatey. Bring your paycheck and fill whatever form that now needs filling. Be sure you get paid for missing week. If you live where Rent Supplement is centrally processed, then make whatever complaint you can in whatever way is open to you. Also, if it doesn't work out, get your TD on the case. Not his or her job I know, but this is Ireland.
