What does it mean that Lamictal helped a great deal with my depression?

After failure with two ssri's - Lexapro and Prozac.

The effects of the Lamictal for depression eventually wore off though it still works for my epilepsy. I am on effexor now which is great for me and really improved my quality of life ten fold.

Funnily also is the fact that I would have never tried Lamictal for depression if I hadn't developed epilepsy. I think having epilepsy and a good quality of life is better than not having it and having a poor quality of life. Almost a blessing in disguise.

Does it mean that my depression is just caused my noradrenalin issues rather than serotonin?

Just looking for ideas here and opinions not medical advice. My doctors are not good, now that I'm on an outpatient community health service.

    Thanks.

I also wonder how these medications cannot be used to give a high with increased dosages?
