What's the difference between just a E and say E4 mark on a tyre sidewall.

    Hi, I noticed on my car my 4 tyres have just a E symbol on them and on my friends car his tyres have E4 on them. What's the difference between just a E and E2 E4 etc . Will just E on its own pass nct. There four new tyres . Thank you in advance....

    A large E denotes that the tyre has international approval UNECS. A small e denotes EU approval.
    The number after the small e denotes the member state that the the approval was granted in.
    A mix is no problem
