A vet told me to use Drontal say this month then in 3months use Advantage. Think Drontal does something Advantage dosent and Advantage does somthing Drontal dosent if you know what i mean.

I have been using Parazole. It comes in a 100ml bottle and you can syringe it down their necks (ideal for new pups) or add to food. I find it good and the dogs seem to keep clear of any issues.

I bought some "generic" Drontal from ebay

Gave it to my dog 2 weeks ago. I also use Ivomectin and Milbomax at different times. I think the Milbomax is the best, though very expensive.

Buy a bottle of FEN-BEN 10. You will buy a litre for about €25. Give the dog 1ml per 1kg for 3 days. It will put a shine on them, its very easy on the pocket and will hold for ages in the bottle.

AFAIK Milbomax and Parazole prevent lung worm, I don't think the Drontal will prevent it.

FEN-BEN 10 and Parazole have the same active ingredient - Fenbendazole. Also the same strength 100 Mg/Ml

Can't remember what they charge locally but the first Irish site I found has the following prices -
    FEN-BEN 10 - €45 for 2500ml
    Parazole - €11 for 100ml

Anyone have a view on how often to change the base chemical you use - if at all? I hear that in horses it's recommended by many to do a three year cycle changing chemical each year.

I think ivermectin is dangerous to collie and collie cross dogs. It kills them.

It can do and I should have mentioned the fact in my post. I was thinking of gun dogs and not collie cross etc.
The vet made absolutely sure there was no "stray" genes in my dog by staring on a .1cc dose up to the full dose of .7cc over the course of a week. (He was on a 3 month .7cc daily dose for mites that he has an allergy to)
Apparently the symptoms to look out for were shaking and drooling. But if your not sure I'd say there are as cheap and safer alternatives.
