I'm trying to find a suitable power supply for my Turbo Express.
I have hunted through Woodies, B&Q, Curry's and no luck. Argos have one but its nearly €20.
I'd like to just walk in and buy one or will one of my existing console psus do the trick?
    Help!

    Voltage?
    Amp?
    Connector size?

I think a PSOne psu works. But it's not 100 percent the same so I'd be careful.

Interesting, I've got a spare one of those.
I'll do some checking and if I post a gif of me outside Steves house with a large axe you'll know it did not go well.

    Nope, no joy

    6v or 7v, 700mA is it?
Same connector as Gameboy and Lynx.
    Batteries?

    7V DC 700mA

Yeah, it's the Lynx/Gameboy connector, as described here: link

I was hoping I'd have something like it lying around but I never owned a PSU for the GB or Lynx series, despite owning the consoles themselves :(

I might have something in my office. Box of spaghetti junction power supplies of all shapes and sizes. It will be Monday though.

What I really need to know is the size of the tip that the Gameboy takes, the original one.
That will also suit the Turbo Express.
I can then pop that onto an existing AC Adapter and off we go.
Maplins have all sizes but I'd want to know before heading in there!
And the information seems this on the ground, lots of other detail but no places yet to describe the size power plug it or the Lynx and Turbo Express takes.

    3mm, that's what I need.
It's a hard piece of info to come across but now I can nip into Maplins and get the the right component.
I shall soon be freed from the tyranny of battery dependency!
I'm still considering installing a Li ion battery that's easily charged instead.

Yeah hard info to find alright, they should have some better naming convention for connector types.
Got that 3mm on some French website I had to translate.
You not getting a universal one with loads of connectors anyways?

I found a doohickey there today, I'll have a look and see if it fits and then decide whether or not to leave it USB or, more likely, stitch it onto an AC adapter proper.

    Here's a question.
Rather than dremelling the hole out of the TE, I was thinking I could find a Li ion battery pack to slot into the existing compartment.
Then it'd be a simple process to charge it when required.
Could it be done sans dremel and would it work?
