    hey guys,
    my driver side window on my e46 has been sticking lately especially when opening it, yesterday then it was fine until I was leaving an indoor car park and it just would not open, there was a slight click from where the motor is located when i pressed the button. (my brother opened it up but wasn't too sure what it might be)
    Anyone have any ideas on what could the problem be?

    Can you swap the switch from the passenger door?
    If it works ok then you know the switch is the problem.

    The click is likely the relay energising this is normal but usually drowned out by the motor noise & engine.
    Get some silicon paste and smear it in the vertical window rubber run channels usually works a treat if it's a friction problem. I did mine a year ago and it's still smoother now than when I bought it.

    Other possibilities are;
    • Motor brush worn out.
    • Bad connection/corrosion to motor/switch/fuse/relay/ground clean with a mini-grinder/sand paper where possible.
    • Sticky limit switch (fiddling with it can sometimes work)
    • Bulging seam or pinch weld (lift the rubbers and look for rust bubbles; grinder again for that one)
    • Loose connection/broken wire (hold the switch in on position and wiggle wires until something works or check for continuity/resistance with the ignition off)

    It'd do no harm take the internal door panel off and grease the pane actuator assembly while you're at it (normal petroleum/lithium grease is fine).
