I've just noticed that my sick pay has gone into the bank. Its very quick and I'm grateful but confused. I was told I could claim for my wife and 17yr old son. My first note went in last Friday and was dated 18th to 25th and my second on Tuesday dated until 1st.

Now here's where I am confused I've had €62 go in, is this just part payment? And if so for when? I know I can ask in welfare office but it'll bug me all wkend so I was hoping someone here might be able to clarify it. Thanks

This is from Citizens Advice: 'From 6 January 2014 no Illness Benefit payment is made for the first 6 days of illness (up from 3 days). This means that a person will not be entitled to Illness Benefit for the first 6 days of their claim (unless the person was receiving Illness Benefit, Injury Benefit or a jobseekers' payment immediately before their claim). Claims with a commencement date before 6 January 2014 and those coming from Maternity Benefit will not be paid for the first 3 days of illness.'

You will also receive a letter shortly, explaining what you will be paid per week, and how it is calculated.
I'm no expert but hope this helps.

    Thanks. It's all so confusing.

You should get your letter this week, if your first payment has gone through, and as far as I remember, that sets out exactly what payment you will receive, and how it is calculated. You will also receive weekly advice slips showing what period the payment relates to.
(I had to look this up a while back, for a relative).
The Citizens Information website is quite helpful, if you have a look in the State Benefits section, it explains the calculations.

If your employer pays you while you are on sick leave, you will need to provide them with the details of payments you receive, in order that they can make the appropriate deductions from your wages.

Hope that you feel better soon. :)

Thanks again l'll go and see if I can work it out from site. No work don't pay me I'm just hoping the €62 is part payment otherwise I'll be forced back before I'm well enough.
