I'm buying a house that has a geothermal heating system with underfloor heating. Looking for an engineer with experience to check the system make sure it is in fwo, but don't know where to go from here. I have contacted a couple of installers but no one interested in checking out a system if they didn't fit it. I made enquires to the current owner of the house to get the details of the company that fitted the system for him, but apparently he can't remember. The house is located in north wexford. Can anyone recommend?

Ask to see their electricity bills since the installation.

My surveyor asked for them but they have the ESB cut off to the property, was told that they use it as a holiday house as they mainly live in Dublin. ESB has been off for a while so no receint bills. The owner told my surveyor that bills were around €600 every 2 months. As there is no power I'm trying to get the power on so I can get the system checked. NIGHTMARE!!

€600 seems very accessible for geothermal & being a holiday home.
Their reluctance to provide any electrical bills would also ring alarm bells.
Problematic geothermal systems can be very expensive & difficult to remedy.

You might have better luck with posting in the geothermal section of the Construction & Planning forum. Some very good geothermal specialists post there.

Did you get anywhere with this? I can't recommend anyone from Wexford but someone came down from Dublin once and was excellent, happy to PM you details if you need them
