I have a friend who works in the civil service. She was not deducted a certain tax since 2011 without realising . She got a letter today saying that she has to pay it back but she really can't afford to. I think it was 5% so she owes 4500 over 3 years. Any help on this would be great . Does anyone no what her options are? Does she have to pay it back?

She needs tax advice. I am not sure if the taxation forum will be able to answer her questions, but it may be worth a shot.

Otherwise try an accountant or tax adviser.
