    Whats your setup?

Running Win7 and looking for advice on antivirus/maleware setup. Ideally an all in one package, if not a good combo.

    Thanks

I run Panda as a antivirus and then run Malwarebytes a couple times a week.

As a rule of thumb, never ever have to antivirus programs on your computer not even a malware scanner and an antivirus because they always conflict with each other. I would recommend you install eset nod32 antivirus. It is one of the best antivirus in the world, i've been using it for the past 6 years and my computer never had any problems. This antivirus costs money but its worth it. Never get free anti virus programs because logically they are good because they are free p.s from experience.

Nothing wrong a with free antivirus and Malwarebytes free, it's enough for personal use. Your logic above is totally wrong.

I've got Malwarebytes pro and Windows Defender (MSE for Windows 7 same thing)running at the same time and no conflicts.

Malwarebytes isn't AV software, it's for malware, but still essential IMO, as for AV I see no reason to pay for AV software when some of the best ones are free. i.e. Avast, Avira

Viruses are a subset of malware, so surely having something that is for malware also covers you for "viruses".

I'm still using Win7 and whatever the microsoft antivirus is called these days. Does the job, minimal interference on my low spec machine, never had a problem with viruses.

Honestly all the antimalware in the world isn't going to protect a machine from a stupid user.

    Definitely Not

I use Symantec endpoint protection manager which manages all my machines which have symantec endpoint protection on them.

I had Panda up until recently I was getting a Upgrade popup every day and it was annoying me, so I switched to Immunet, which is also a cloud one: http://www.immunet.com

Honestly SEP is the most bloated useless crap I've ever has the misfortune of using (work enforced)

    Bloatware at its finest

We took SEP off all our client machines over the last year. I was not a fan to say the least. Went for vipre which is very impressive.

I tend to change different AVs from time to time, most copies of pcpro mag come with a free 1 year AV licence. If one interests me (it doesn't wreck my head), I'll give it a bash. Currently using AVG which is fine so far. Had bitdefender a couple of months ago which really didn't agree with me.

I find ESET Smart Security good. Never had an issue.

I run Norton PowerErasor every now and again. Always comes clear.

Of course, (you've heard this before), no antivirus will protect someone who is careless.

This is after happening only in the last few weeks and because of it I got rid of it as it was a nuisance.

Yeah, I don't know what prompted them to add a popup every day, what did you go for instead?

My daughter bought me a Norton internet security for my birthday and I've installed it on 2 laptops and my desktop and it seems okay, normally I wouldn't go near a paid antivrus but as it's a present I'll see how I get on with it.
