Hi Folks, I'm currently the proud owner of a 5 series 535D, but recently have moved pretty close to work and I'm feeling the new car itch, also want it to be petrol and powerful, currently in the process of adopting a greyhound so space would be fantastic.

From what I've seen on paper what I want is a B5 RS4 avant one of the ones with the 2.7 turboed engine, so I guess I have a few questions really, does anyone have one?
If so are there any major pitfalls/things to be aware of (outside of usual maintenance issues)?
I can't seem to find any for sale in Ireland at the moment  last time I looked there was quiet a few, any suggestions on places to find a good one like owners clubs sites?
Also any other suggestions? (I've gotten used to a certain level of power and comfort but thinking petrol 300+ bhp and space for a big dog or two would be a good place to start)

    - Feel like I need to add car appearance to brand is not too important.

There is an RS6 Avant on Carzone if that is of any use to you.

I've had a few friends and associates who've owned B5 RS4s. Every single one of them gave massive amounts of hardship (mostly but not exclusively turbo failures due to boost leaks).

Beautiful car and when they work are an incredible machine but I wouldn't wish one on my worst enemy.

I'm looking at Subaru Legacy twin turbos at the moment. AWD estate with about 270bhp.

    Worth considering?

    Mazda CX7?

Plenty of room for your dogs, very cheap, reliable, bit of a sleeper.

    Good tuning potential as well.

    Nice one here for 6k
