it's not in Eyre Sq. but Beirhaus on Henry St. up the street from Róisins seem to be getting in to them...

The Skeff does the pre-mixed stuff, but if you want the real deal, freshly made, with proper ingredients, it's hard to beat the House Hotel. Not cheap but you get what you pay for.

Good cocktail bar is The House Cocktail Bar http://www.thehousehotel.ie/cocktail-bar-galway?gclid=CNG66_qhtb0CFUN22wodTW8Auw and it about 500 meters from Eyre Square

The Cellar Bar often have deals on cocktails and it's just off Eyre Square http://www.thecellar.ie/cellarclub/

But I reckon The G is the best albeit the most expensive but not near Eyre Square http://www.theghotel.ie/

If it's a Hen Night. just go straight to The House and ye will end up in The Front Door http://www.frontdoorpub.com/

Beirhaus do some seriously good cocktails, had a proper whiskey sour there not so long ago. Also, the Asian Lounge on Mary Street do some great cocktails as well ;)

Anyone remember Manhattan Bar that was on High Street where the Kilkenny shop is now? I think that was Galway's first cocktail bar, would that be right? I don't think it lasted long. It was also a Formula 1 themed bar too I think I recall. Slightly before my time so the details might be hazy.

The Formula 1 bar was where Kennedys is now (originally Gilmores). The Manhattan was somewhere else as well if I remember correctly.

There was a Manhattan Lounge on Dominick St too.

    Found this on it: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=80334116

Yeah. It's Monroes one I'm thinking of. Must have been in England when the other one was around.

I stayed in the G hotel on Wednesday and Thursday night this week. I wasn't too interested in cocktails but the wife was. We were in the 3rd foyer, if that makes sense to people, and when she asked about cocktails they sent down a designated expert, which I thought was pretty cool for a midweek night. Didn't just recommend all the expensive ones either.

Best cocktails I've ever had have been the Twelve in Barna.
In the city centre, House Hotel is hard to beat. Expensive but they're freshly made and taste amazing.

Asian Tea House, House Hotel and The Meyrick upstairs bar. All worth a look.

I love the Tea House though. Usually good music in there.
