    Hi,
I'm starting a fas course soon for a duration of 30 weeks. Before I found out that I had received a place on the course my friends and I had booked a holiday for a week in July. I'm just wondering if anyone knows if I will be able to take this week off for the holiday as I have already paid for it. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

I sat phase 2 of my apprenticeship in FAS in Dundalk, 20 week duration, and we were asked if we had holidays booked. If so, we had to defer our place until the next semester.

They're not difficult to get on. But you need to apply for them as soon as possible because there may be a large demand for a particular course in your particular area.
You'll need to go to your local employment services office and make an appointment to see someone to apply.

Oh I'd say you'll have to ask FAS yourself, I think you get a certain amount of days off in a year for being sick or whatever but I'm not sure.

Just posted this in another thread but you only get 3 paid days in a 3 month period if sick, overly stringent in my view but ya, there ya go, it's FAS after all :)
