Hiatus Hernia - Surgery

    Hi there,

I've just been diagnosed with a 'giant hiatus hernia' (Over 10cm) which requires surgery.
I'm just wondering has anyone here had this done before? And if so what has your experience been?
I'm a reasonably fit 30 year old male.
My work involved a lot of manual llifting and as I am self employed I am somewhat concerned as to the time I will need off work.Thankfully I have insurance that will help a certain amount of my lack of income.
Any thoughts or advice on this is greatly appriciated.
    Thanks.
