    Hi all,
Just wondering if those with experience or knowledge of putting on a play either in an amateur or more professional sense can help.
I read an article recently where it was mentioned that certain plays are too difficult for an amateur group to execute from the point of view of characterisation. It was a comment from a creative director of one of the leading theatres in London.

Can anyone shed light on this? How does an amateur actor or director, etc. move from amateur to professional? What makes the difference?
