I have an interview next week for a healthcare assistant course that I really want to get, any advice? I have no idea what i'll be asked and such.

Also what options is there after the healthcare fetac 5 course? Is there any courses to progress with? I know there is palliative care but I cant find anything else.

    Any help appreciated!

Hi. I did the HCA course in 2012/2013. My interview was very informal. Just basic questions about why I wanted to do the course, why did I want to be a HCA. It was very quick and straightforward.

There are options to specialise, palliative care as you mentioned, intellectual disability, care of the older person, peads, trachy care etc. Your ability to specialise will very much depend on where you're working. For example, if you're working in a nursing home, opportunities in paediatrics would be minimal. You can choose to work in domicilary care, hospital care, hospice, residential care etc. There really are a lot of opportunities in the area and it's expanding all the time.
