Only google contacts in list?

I've just installed a new ROM and when I open Contacts it has hundreds of names in there which I've no interest in seeing. I think it's probably everyone I've ever CCed on a Gmail. On my previous ROM this list only contained the short list of contacts which I see when I go to Google Contacts on line. Does anyone know how…
