No. Not for a private college.

You can get BTEA (188 a week) if you go back to college but it being private you wont get any help with the fees. You'd have to pay the 4 grand yourself.

    BTEA won't cover private colleges.

It will in some circumstances. It depends on the qualifications, and if it is recognised by QQI. For third level courses, students can get BTEA in a private college.

Can't hurt to ask anyway! Go into your FÁS / Local Employment Services Facilitator bring a copy of the Course Outline / Description, explain why you want to do it and see what they say. If they consider it, they will likely give you a Form to give to the Course Provider to fill in their details, even if it's not on the FÁS' List of approved Courses they might still consider paying for or towards it.

I'm trying to sort out Courses at the moment that aren't recognized as such by FÁS, but it's looking good that they will pay for them. It is all training like so they would have to have a good reason to refuse you. Admittedly though, mine is nowhere near 4 grand, that's a lot of money! But still though I think you should go and speak to someone about it and see.

I am in a private college and in receipt of back to education allowence.... like the post above says, it will not cover your fees...and you will not be able to get any sort of grant.. but ask as your local social welfare if the college you are thinking of is on the list of approved colleges...shouldnt matter that its private.. at least thats how it worked out for me....
