Why are Aerlingus charging me a premium for multiple bookings?

I'm trying to book flights here and the website tells me one return flight will cost 153.98, yet the same return flight for two passengers is 345.96.

Where is this extra €39 coming from and why do I have to pay it?

I *think* that if there is only 1 seat left at a certain, lower price, if you book multiple seats then you will automatically be charged the next, higher price for both of them.

(that could well be very wide of the mark mind!)

Yeah there's only one seat left at lower price so the second seat is being charged at the higher price.

It's to avoid creating confusion for customer's wondering why they were charged different prices for the same seat.

That's a bit lousy, you'd think they'd give you the same price within a booking.

I went ahead with my booking and now I see they are trying to scam me with a 0.87p/€ exchange rate despite the current rate being 0.83p (I am paying from a UK bank account).

This works out at over €45 extra. What are they playing at?
