Smoker myself and thinking about giving the e-cigs a chance.

    Few questions on same:

    - Are they allowed in pubs?
    - How much would it cost weekly? i currently smoke approx 20 a day

Theres a forum about them, the FAQs might be a help as the amount of threads is fairly daunting.

Know someone on 60 per day began using one in November and hasn't smoked since. Allowed so far in certain pubs but lots of places issuing bans so I can imagine pubs may follow. I think it was around €35 to begin then the refill is €7 that last up to 3 weeks as far as I am aware.

Some pubs allow them, some don't.

Price - as little or as much as you want it to be. Most of my 20 a day customers spend about 30 euro a month on ecigs.

You'd be much better off asking in the vaping forum :)

I used to smoke about ten a day, spending about €150 a month on fags. Haven't touched one in nearly a year, but spent about €800 on various shiney e-cigs stuff and juice.

I didn't know the tobacco industry was behind them. I really thought they were an alternative.

I spend €20 every 4-6 weeks on liquid. Charging batteries is a pain in the sack. I've never been asked to stop using it. I love it though, using kanger evod.

There just as additive as real cigarettes, keep well clear of them if you want to get off nicotine. Not one friend of mine has managed to break their nicotine addiction using eCigs. There all now hopelessly addicted to smoking eCigs.

Have a look at the champix threads in the giving up smoking forum, loads of people have cured their nicotine addiction there*

*awaits the champix made me want to kill myself, murder my mother and triggered depression vested interest in eCigs brigade.

I know people who used them to quit smoking but I know other people who have used them either as a replacement cigarette or in tandem with smoking. I would imagine the idea behind them is that over time you reduce the strength of them and wean yourself off them, I don't think they were ever designed to be used as a long term alternative for smoking. As a stop smoking aid though they have their uses.

Tbh, i don't know of a single brand of e-cigs that are backed in any way by a tobacco company.

They're trying to get on board because they're losing revenue, but I don't think they've managed it yet.

I don't think e-cigarettes are designed for giving up really, it's just another way of smoking. One that doesn't stink the f*ck house of your house and tastes a lot nicer. Not to mention, nicotine at the press of a button...

Yes, I'm an addict. If I wanted to give up I wouldn't use them, though. As a replacement for tobacco, though, they're great.

I use e-cigs as a smoking alternative, not as a smoking cessation. I gave up the cigarettes Nov 2012, and haven't had a cig since, but vaping instead.

I have about 5 different devices, which cost between €20-€80. They are one-time purchases.
Batteries for each are between €4-€10, and are rechargeable. They last about 6 months. Best to have a good stock of batteries, so you aren't waiting for one battery to recharge all the time. Battery chargers can be picked up from about €10.
The tanks that hold the e-liquid are pretty cheap (I don't have a tank that costs more than €20). Tanks are a once off purchase, but the coils that vaporise the liquid burn out after a while (totally dependant on how often you vape, and the type of liquid you use, but should last between 2-3 weeks.) Replacement coils rarely cost more than €2.50.

That said, I am somewhat of an "enthusiast", and like any geek, I like the newest shiniest things. Including the cost of the occasional new shiny thing (might by a new device every 2-3 months), vaping is costing me somewhere in the region of €30 a month, including liquid, compared to almost €300 on the fags.

The rule of thumb I use with regards to pubs is simply to ask. I have not been denied vaping in any pub I have asked in thus far. Always polite to ask, tho!!

Since I have taken up vaping, my sense of smell has returned with a BANG, I'm less chesty, Hangovers after a heavy night have lessened, and I generally feel better.

Things to look out for if you start vaping : Be prepared for a cold-flu after you quit the cigs. I was clogged up for 2 weeks after quitting tobacco. Vaping gives more of a "throat hit" than fags, and can be quite dry, so be prepared for a tickly throat for a week or two. You need to also prepare to take long, slow drags on the e-cig to get the best result. It's slightly different to smoking a fag, but I find it more relaxing!!

I'm using them a few weeks and find them good. I'd be worried about the long term effects in what is a new industry and it seems there's little to no regulation.

The folks in there know everything there is to know about them.
I'm off the smokes 7 weeks now since I switched to vaping.
    Best of luck.
