    I'm off to Tipp in a few weeks. The evenings will be brighter so I'm looking for a few tips around the Thurles/Templemore area really. I had a look at the OSI maps today but I'd have to buy 4 of them to plot any sort of route so I thought I'd hack into a bit of local knowledge instead.

    I'll be looking to do 1-3 hours in the evenings so any pointers would be appreciated. I don't need too much in the line of detail, something like:

    "Town A->Village B->Town C" type of thing.

    So long as the (unfamiliar) roads are reasonably safe I'm happy. I'll be lit up if needs be so back roads are fine.

    Thanks in advance

    Templemore - Borrisoleigh - Nenagh - Roscrea - Templemore 90km. No back roads all main roads...
    You could shorten it as you wish/need to but its all flattish and not too difficult.
    Templemore - Thurles - Borrisoleigh - Templemore 38km. Nothing too difficult with either route like if I can do them anyone can :pac:.

    Exactly what I was after. Thanks for that.

    Did the shorter of the two routes a couple of times recently when I was in Tipp (time wasn't my friend) so thanks for the routes The Lost Sheep.

    I'd like to say chapeau to the drivers around Thurles. Without exaggeration I'd reckon 80% of them indicated out when passing and most of them indicated back in afterwards. Every single driver gave me huge space when passing and not one driver passed on a single with line or when it wasn't safe to do so.

    I have to admit I was not expecting this type of respect and in truth the drivers of Wicklow and Dublin are seriously lacking in these regards.

    You were in uniform weren't you?...

    I have found that rural drivers seem to give plenty of room when passing and are happy to await a safe passing opportunity. Must be down to being used to wandering livestock and tractors...
