Game of Thrones will receive a simultaneous broadcast in the US and the UK, it was announced at the London premiere on Tuesday.

In the US, HBO will show season four of the fantasy epic on Sundays at 9pm ET, which Sky Atlantic will broadcast in the UK at the same time, at 2am Monday GMT. The UK channel will then repeat the episode on its usual 9pm slot on Monday evenings.

Good news, it will be nice to be able to watch it in HD straight away. Will be interesting if they will do this with other shows if it works.

Good idea to cut down on pirating.

Hardly be ad free on Sky though.

This is great news!! Even recorded it still cuts time off the wait with fast forward through ads.

Only if you plan on watching it before 5am.

A show like GoT appears in HD in the usual places only an hour or so after the US broadcast.

I don't live in the US or the UK, broadcast time and ad breaks would drive me mental anyways. All hail the almighty seeders.

The people that would pirate the show generally wouldn't be paying for a Sky / Cable sub!

Course they would, people don't want to wait for something that they can stream easily within hours of the US broadcast. If they have a legitimate option that removes the wait they'll use it.

Since, realistically, the only decent broadband in this country comes via a cable provider, I think you're more than a little wrong there! (though, to be fair, I wouldn't pay Sky's prices just to get Atlantic)

    Just episode 1 lads :(

Can't wait.................... rumor of them doing it for the finale as well but depends on viewers etc, makes sense really.

What kind of speeds would you really need?

Well, on UPC's broadband I'd have a HD copy of an episode of GOT down in the time it'd take to make a cup of tea.

The Guardian were saying it would be the whole season, or certainly that was the impression I got from reading it.

Theres no reason for them not to do it for every episode. At the end of the day it can only increase viewers.

Personally as much as i love GoT i could never stay up that late to watch it.

Same here, so I checked with Sky. Definitely just the one.
