You should talk to your employer about getting a tax saver ticket http://www.taxsaver.ie/

Otherwise you can purchase a point to point rail ticket monthly or yearly, or a monthly/yearly/weekly bus ticket you should contact Irish Rail or bus eireann for details

Thanks foggy_lad. I had looked at tax saver.ie but not sure if my potential employer uses this although it is the HSE so I'm hoping so! Did look at point to point but not sure if I can purchase annual from station? Also have student card and again not sure if it works for annual cards and where from!

AFAIK the HSE take part in the taxsaver scheme, check when you start work. How long is the job expected to last? You might be better off getting monthly taxsaver if it is only a short contract.

Any annual tickets can't be bought from the station or online. From Mullingar the point to point annual rail fare is something like €3150 before the taxsaver discount. Student tickets are not available through the taxsaver scheme, but you should check out the cost for monthly student ticket between Mullingar and connolly.
