First trailer is up. Doesn't give away too much. I'm liking the whole battling mythical beasts thing though.

Much as I love The Rock, I just can't get behind this. CGI looks awful and don't get me started on that font :(

Sums up exactly how I feel. Really looks like a bad career choice.

It couldn't be any worse than the version out in the cinema at the moment.

Watched it last night and it is actually one of the biggest stinkers I've ever seen. Terrible acting, dialogue, and almost worst of all, even the special effects are unforgivably dodgy - they couldn't even get that right in a movie with a budget of $70,000,000?

    An actual 1/10.

Is Michael Bay involved with this?

He's entering Nic Cage territory with the wig too.

Did like how all the creatures in the trailer are ones from the 12 labours of Hercules. Hope the films does not just gloss over the labours in an early montage, and head straight for the Thracian Wars storyline from the comic the film is being based upon.

im actually looking forward to this.

had no idea he was even doing this movie and looks alot more faithful to the myth than the last one which looked so brutal in the trailer that i didnt even bother going to see it in the cinema.

has a nice "conan" vibe to it or something and i loves me mythical monsters.

    should be fun.

    :D

Every time I look at this thread title I think it's going to be about a musical.

The font the Hercules is written in annoys me

Beat me to it. "If you can hear what the Rock is singing!"

Saw this earlier and was...pleasantly surprised.
It's not like I expected to be, well there's lot of the Rock punching, kicking, stabbing, throwing and generally being..well The Rock in a Greek setting but it doesn't go down the route you think it's going to. I was expecting a Clash of the Titans type affair but it's not.
Support cast hams it up and it's all played knowing how silly it is, the odd OTT line or rousing the troops speech and such. John Hurt does his thing Ian McShane steals the show and the battle sequences are pretty good and pretty brutal in places.
It's all very familiar and nothing really new is on show, if it was in the hands of someone other than Ratner aka hack surpeme it might have been much more with how it wanted to tell the story but The Rock is an immense screen presence and it doesn't outstay it's welcome running time wise.

For a PG movie though it, seriously pushes the rating at times. There's some really gritty stuff in the battles and no shortage of blood, arrows piercing heads, people having their heads smashed against walls etc. big dumb but entertaining movie really. Enjoyed it more than I thought I would. 3/5

Thought it was absolute rubbish, much worse than anything currently in the cinemas, 1.5/10.

I enjoyed it and the missus loved it. She started googling Greek mythology after it.
But I love Greek mythology and I really enjoyed it.

I got to say I was really surprised at how enjoyable this was in it's own cheesy way. Some great action and The Rock is a great action lead and Ian Mcshane was great too. It didn't outstay it's welcome. Well worth a watch.

    Its alright IMO.

More one for DVD with a few beers but as mentioned it went down a path i didnt expect and its seemed to be alot less CGI-ie than i thought it was gonna be.

the battles in particular looked great.

that said im an oul fella now . as i was leaving a dad with his kid were exiting behind me and the kid thought it was great so maybe thats the audience it was aimed at.

gotta say though, some good one liners. loved McShanes closing line.

    :D

i'd give it 5/10. the short run time makes it more fun.
