Eircom Shocking Treatment

Been ringing eircom all day long twice after waiting 20 mins the agent put me on hold again only for the line to go dead im not sure if this is policy or not. Anyway i had a direct debit with eircom this last 8 months or more and every month it came out the last 2 days of the month, never missed any.
Except on feb i left the money in for the bill and for some reason the direct debit wasnt applied for till the 6th of march .Unfortunately i has mistakenly withdrawn the money on the 5th and wasnt sure what happened with the bill or why it wasnt taken. I then received a bill today which showed a failed dd charged on 6th of march 15 euro another one they applied for on the 11th altogether with vat then on top of it charges of around 40 euro or more possibly for the failed dd.
After i finally got through to eircom today the girl told me it was the bank as she looked it up and eircom applied for the dd on the 24th of feb and told the bank they would be taking it within 5 days and took it on the 28th or tried.
I rang the bank the bank told me she this was definetely incorrect and eircom only made one application for dd which was on the 5th of march .I am drained to be honest phoning people all day and getting nowhere been made to wait then lied to theres probably some small print somewhere that allows eircom to take the dd whenever they want but its very poor treatment of their customers .
I would just like to let people know im sure there must be plenty get this shocking treatment from eircom. They put me on hold for 20 minutes and sometimes then just hang up.Surely there must be pleny of other people get this treatment as it seems to be a policy so u will just give up and pay their overcharges.I can honestly say theres no way i will pay these charges even if i was millionaire on principal i wouldnt pay these i am not sure if other companies are much better or does it affect if u close an account with eircom owing money ur ability to open say a vodafone account on the same line.

Is it possible the DD was delayed due to the introduction of SEPA? I know of several companies that delayed their direct debits in Feb because of this.

Either way, they have added the charges because the funds weren't in your account when they came to collect, which is why they have added on the charges on - you did say you withdrew the monies you had left in for the original bill, right?

Yeah i did like but it like the 5th of march or something when i did and to be honest i could live with paying the charge for the failed dd as i did take the money out. But its the runaround you get along with the lies coz they charged me for 2 failed dd the bank swear they only come for one .They told me they put in to the bank on the 24th of feb to tell the bank they will be taking it within the next 5 days and tried on the 28th the bank say theres no such set up that they just tried once on the 5th or 6th .Also the putting on hold and hanging up i had this experience before with eircom i think its shocking to be honest .

It may well be down to the introduction of SEPA.

OP - do you want me to move this thread to the "Talk to eircom" forum? I'd like to give the reps there a chance to address your issue, rather than just complaining about it here.

I know you're frustrated and justifiably so with the bounce around, but I think accusing Eircom staff of lying to you is a tad extreme especially when you accept without question what the bank is telling you. A lie is an intentional untruth, so unless you know for a fact that they knew what they told you was false then it could be a simple mistake. Don't forget either or both parties could be mistaken.

If Eircom are at fault I'd expect the charges to be refunded, likewise if it were the bank.

Honestly i think maybe you just had a good run with some company .I often caught eircom customer service flat out lying and have plenty of proof their customer service today was no exception .They are trained to lie its a policy and i dont say that lightly it is its meant to give you the run around so you just give up and pay coz i can tell u its extremely draining chasing after them by phone. I have plenty of experience with eircom and i assure u its policy to hang up sometimes if the call , i have a feeling they mark accounts maybe that are unpaid and their agents purposely give u the run around. The stories i could tell u about eircom you probably wouldnt believe when i first set up this dd they sent me out a letter with the wrong bank details purposely when i had given them the correct ones.In the mail they said if these details are not correct u must contact them within 21 days and have them corrected and i can tell u they had a crazy sort code and account number written in the letters not even close to mine .So i rang them and they told me u cannot contact the direct debit department by phone that i must send them my correct details by mail to donegal and give me the address of the direct debit department in donegal i told them i wasnt comfortable posting my name and number and all details in a letter i got the usual run around hanging up on me you wouldnt believe it honest to god on my childs life and i wasnt been rude they just seem to have a policy of hanging up sometimes to make u start the whole 20 minute process again before u can get another agent. So i never sent the details and just done nothing and low and behold when they had seemingly the wrong details the end of the first month the money disappears out of my account to eircom .The false numbers they sent me was just an underhand trick coz they wanted me to send my details signed to them as it gives them more authority since i just signed up for it over the phone but the underhand way it was done.Again rang to complain how they took the money if they hadnt got my details and after a few complaints this time one of the girls put me straight through to the direct debit dept. which all the other agents had been telling me there is no phone to the direct dept department.Honestly they are the worst of the worst and i dont say that lightly i really dont i never would believe such behavior existed their agents are trained in deception i absolutely assure u

    That's totally unreadable.

Dont accuse a company of untruths unless you have proof.

I think it may have been a SEPA related issue. There are many posts here about DDs and credits arriving at accounts early or late in the last 8 weeks.

Dont accuse a company of untruths unless you have proof.

Make a formal complaint in writing asking for a refund of the charges and a months free rental to cover you time and anguish.

Other than that, if you are out of contract, leave.

Yeah it was a bit of a rant of a post im not a big internet poster type of person so sorry if its a bit unreadable.
I only registered today to try to reclaim some sanity by posting here, i assumed since i experienced it so many times with eircom other
people must have got similiar treatment but it seems only posters like yourself with " dont accuse without proof line ".
Maybe u work for eircom im not sure but i have plenty of proof as in my bill today that says missed dd on 6th of march and 11th both 15 euro charges plus vat.
My bank who absolutely guaranteed they only came one time in march on the 5th while the lady on the phone guaranteed me that they tried for it on the 28th of february .
Unless you work for eircom why bother replying to criticize the delivery of my post i know your type well, too many of your type around is the problem with the place .
    Goodnight

Amkin - this is my experience - deal with these guys in writing only.
I cancelled landline phone and broadband with Eircom on September 3rd last year.
Every month since then I have received a bill for Broadband and every month I have spent hours on to their laughable named 'Customer Service team' - each month they assure me that the problem is fixed - and every month a new bill arrives.
In January I got a letter telling me that I have been disconnected for not paying the account. But guess what - they continue to bill me.
It would be laughable if it wasn't so annoying. Incompetent doesn't begin to describe this organisation and its staff.

    Hi amkin25

I can confirm that following the implementation of SEPA a number of  Direct debit requests failed to reach the bank and as a result there have been issues with direct debits recently and I can confirm that your account has been affected by these issues. Apologies for the inconvenience as this is through no fault of your own.

There are measures in place to rectify this issue and the full amount will be taken in the next direct debit. If you wish to discuss this or have any further questions on this issue a new specific line has been opened to take such calls which can be contacted on free phone 1800 303 432.

    Thanks
    Al
