I'm considering dropping into the GMHS in Baggot St tomorrow but I'm just wondering what exactly it all entails regarding the tests, I've seen the info on the HSE site about registration and all but what do the actual tests involve. I've never been before so just wondering?

I've never been, but I would expect them to do:

    1. A medical history. Asking about your sexual history, general health and specific symptoms that relate to STIs.
    2. A genital examination. Looking for the signs of STIs.
    3. Swabs. Like it sounds, a bit of material brushed around the obvious area to culture for infections.
    4. A sample of blood taken. To look for HIV, hepatitis and syphilis.
You may not get all of these but that's the full range really. Pretty easy, and definitely worth doing.
