Looking for some help here please.
I am looking to buy some goods for farming from china. The minimum order for them is 200 pieces which come to roughly 3000 euro. Will customs add an extra charge on to this once the goods get to Ireland does anyone know?

    Good morning gaa321,

Goods imported from outside the EU are subject to Duty and VAT at the time of importation. If you are a VAT registered trader you can claim back the VAT paid on imports through your periodic VAT return.

A note of caution. If the goods are being shipped by seafreight, I would recommend that you agree FOB (Free On Board) Chinese port with your supplier and arrange the shipping through an Irish based forwarder. Leaving the shipping arrangements with your Chinese supplier (no matter how attractive on the face of it), usually leads to very high arrival charges in Ireland (search for the term : China Import Service Fee on boards.ie to see some of the horror stories).

Feel fee to post again or PM me if you require any further assistance

    Regards,
    Rudolf289
