500px is launching a licensing marketplace where a buyer can purchase a royalty-free, non-exclusive and permanent license for featured photos.

There is a flat fee of $250 dollars per license, for any photograph. The photographer earns 70% of that rate.

This came to my attention because they emailed me to say they would like me to submit a photo based on its popularity. I haven't decided whether or not to submit.

Does this seem like a fair service? How does it compare to other stock services like Getty? Being a hobbiest, making money from photography has never been a big priority. Not knowing much about licenses I wasn't keen to rush into an agreement, so thought I would put it to the good folk of the forum to see what people think.

    The site is here: https://prime.500px.com/
There is also the support centre which answers questions on the service.

I've had about 8 of my photos requested . Wasn't that happy given them full rights to it as you only get paid if its sold , though you're photo is still under license to them .

So I just went with the 2nd option for most of the shots. Only 2 have been accepted so far though as its automatically chosen then they review them.

Still would like to know what the pros also think too.
