    Hi All,

Myself and the other half would like a violinist to play music during our wedding ceremony. Just wondering what the going rate is and what is a realistic amount that we should be paying.

Also anyone who has had a violinist at there wedding or been to a wedding where there was one and recommends them please PM me there details.

    Thanks

Church musicians usually run at about 200e per head for an experienced professional.
You may find some either end of that scale and may get cheaper by the dozen but it won't be too far off that.

€200 seems about right but if it's a soloist without an accompanist then he/she may charge you more as he/she will be doing 100% of the work.

Again, you get what you pay for so do some homework and remember that professionals are professionals for a reason... although some people like to just slap the tag on these days! Try and see them in a live/ceremony setting if you can.

Can also recommend some people if you would like some suggestions :)

    Best of luck!

200 would be pretty good,I know of resident church organists/pianists that charge 250 and i would expect to pay more for a good musician.
My husband has done music for nearly every wedding that we have been to so when it came to ours it was a bit of a disaster.

Are you looking for a singer also or just a violinist?

Ahh, church organists / pianists are generally among the best musicians I know! Sure there are some duds out there, but generally unless you're very good you won't get a resident gig in a church.

Not looking for a singer just a violinist.

Thanks everyone for the replies, at least I have a ball park figure now.

I'm a harpist and I would generally charge €220 for a church wedding. I have booked a singer plus accompanist (pianist) for my own wedding which is €370. Hope that gives you a general idea :-)
