Creating a "give me a job!!" website...

Ok, so the title is a bit flippant, but it's a genuine question. What is the general feeling on having a website that is acting as a dynamic CV?

I am a researcher and advocate in the disability/ general social science field, but I am getting nowhere with my job search. I've tried applying for posts in fields that are even just VAGUELY related but I've only had 1 interview in 6 months.

It's a field where I could feasibly have a website (say, wordpress) and use it as a dual blog/ advertising of myself. Yes, I have a linkedin profile, and an academia.edu profile but perhaps putting them all together and showcasing my different fields of expertise might be an idea? I have lots of papers and presentations I have written that I could make available, and also a section on my interests and articles etc. that are relevant for my field.

I'm just trying to do something, ANYTHING that would aid my job search, I'm getting desperate!

Are you looking to be an employee, or to pick up contracting? If the latter, then yes I'd definitely expect you to have a website and to be publishing regularly.

TBH I don't care. I'm happy to get a permanent or contract post on a project or to pick up a few months doing analysis here, a few months on a lit review there.
