hello, my friend installed win 64 ultimate for me, in order to play titanfall (i just had win 32). just wondering where is the cheapest place to buy a key , as it seems the copy he put on only had a certain time on it. or even the best place to buy a copy with disk, as i do not think he formatted properly last time, and i want to make a new start as i have next to nothing on the PC at the moment

delete if this is the wrong place to ask etc..

Is the 32 bit version you had for Windows 7 or 8? Which version is it (Home Premium, Ultimate etc)? If you install the same type of Windows, the 32 bit key should work in 64 bit. E.g. if you had Windows 7 32-bit Ultimate, then that key would work for Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate.

Abbir is correct, you can use the same key to register either a 64bit or 32bit copy of Windows. You may be able to register your current installation without needing to reinstall again. Try this: Click Start and in the search box above the start button, type "slui.exe". This brings up the Windows activation panel. It should give you the option to type in your Windows key, which is on a sticker on the side or underneath your pc/laptop. Type this key in the box provided and see does it register. If not, the same sticker should tell you what version of Windows you had. You can then download the 64bit version of it - check this site for the version you need.

When it's downloaded, check this link for info on burning an iso to disk.

just as a note, if he'd installed the same version of windows (but 64 bit rather than 32) that you already had, you could have used the same (legitimate) key to activate it as the same keys work for 23 and 64 bit as long as the version is the same.
