Me and two other friends are developing a tactical ballistic missile (no warhead of course) a project we've wanted to start a long time, mulling over it with swirling glasses of wine and long discussions beside the fire - crossed legs and serious faces.

Could we get into a lot of trouble developing such a device? When finished it will be able to travel up to a travel of 200km. Basing it off the Indian Shaurya.

What would be the potential consequences?

If you are serious about it speak to a solicitor before doing anything.

Various rocket fuel components may be restricted chemicals. As for launching stuff, you will find there are lots of aviation laws to be followed. Contact the various amateur rocketry clubs to find out more. You may have trouble getting a launch permit for an IRBM tho. Are you a signatory to the various SALT accords?

If you register as a company you will probably get a grant to help with your research

Accidental war and/or you being kidnapped / assassinated.

Be careful of anything over 250km range as you get into all sorts of international treaties.

Even below that there are some treaties / regimes imposing restrictions.

Ensure it lands where no possible negative damage is done - Leinster House springs to mind.

This would be interesting if you were being serious. Would this really happen? Because we'd be interested in this.

Crowd funding? I'm in for a tenner. But only if I get to push the big red button. And only if it comes in a crate marked 'ACME'.

There's this pesky roadrunner I've been after for a while now....

when I was younger I developed an anti anti missile missile missile. this you launch to take out the anti missile missile that was launched to take out the original missile.

    But it never took off.

Of course you could apply to the relevant bodies to have a grant to set up a business then you can go to a university and collaborate with them. but they would laugh at you unless you were serious not just about making a missile but starting a high tech company. a la lockheed...
