I'm doing the leaving in June and plan on going to college if I get the points. Would I be able to sign on after my leaving and sign off if I get to college.
    This is if I don't find a job .

No. You won't get the dole until at least 3 months after you complete you L.C. exams.

You don't qualify under a number of different reasons. Availability for work, means testing (you're probably still living with your parents), social welfare contributions, etc

When I did my L.C in 2010, I was able to sign on the dole, because I had worked part time the previous 3 years but had quit my job for the leaving cert. That summer, I then got a new job and I was able to claim dole for the days I didnt work. Then just before I went off to college, I said I was entering full time education. Now unless things have changed since. But as someone said above, I think if you havent worked previously, you have to wait 3 months after the leaving.

Imagine if all the school leavers were able to claim JSA for €100 a week for the 2-3 months before heading off to college, it would cost the state tens of millions every year.

Am moving this to State Benefits (from Work and Jobs) hopefully they can give the full story.

No dole for three months from the last day of your exams.

If you have just left school you cannot get Jobseeker's Allowance. To get Jobseeker's Allowance you must have been out of school for three months and you must be at least 18 years of age.
