    Hi all,

I'm arranging a hen night for June for 30 women and we are heading to Limerick city. We have our meal/accommodation etc booked but I am not too sure where to go after the meal. We are all in our 30's and would like to go somewhere more geared towards an "older" crowd, with a lively atmosphere and good music but where we would be able to get our own area/seating etc! It would be great if anyone could suggest a few bars and also a club or a late bar to finish off in? Thanks!

Clohessy's Bar on Howley's Quay might suit you. It has more of an older crowd. The Sin Bin nightclub is downstairs then for after.

You could start of in the Locke bar, then head over to maybe clohessys and on to Denmark street where ye could go to Flannerys, smiths, maybe the crafty fox and then finish in nancys in Denmark street..older crowd in there with good music and late bar

Keep away from the Crafty Fox, would be my suggestion,
Denmark St would be good Nancys & Flannerys both are late bars

Where are you having the meal?

Nancy's for the best nights out in Limerick! Always great craic there when I'm down visiting my mate. The Outback rocks (back bar in Nancy's).

First they came for the socialists...

We are having a meal in Chocolat. I know its central enough, but not sure where it is yet in relation to the bars, I need to look it up. Would be nice to be able to walk to bars rather than getting taxis for 30 people!

Thanks everyone for suggestions so far, I'll look these places up! :)

The Locke, then across town to Clohesseys and then back to Denmark St? When there's 30 of them? Definitely not the way to do it.

OP if you don't want 30 of ye traipsing all over town then Denmark St. area is probably the best bet. Loads of pubs all in the same area, Nancys, Flannerys x 2, The Library, The Office, the Old Quarter, Cobblestone Joes. Plenty of options plus there's a couple of the niteclubs in the area too.

Nancys gets WAY too packed, to the point that it is not enjoyable, so I would suggest staying away. It's not a bad spot other than that.

Very central and no taxis will be required.

Would suggest some pre dinner cocktails in the George hotel around the corner. With 30 of you I would avoid nacied like the plague! Way to busy for you to enjoy yourselves. Smyths for the band then library bar (late license) is one option or else clossehys and sin bin is another.

Smyths for a group of ladies in their 30s? Surely not? It's a creche in there! Maybe Flas up on Catherine Street? An older crowd and live music. Or Flannerys across from the Icon.
Sin Bin would be for an older crowd too, or Teds. Is Teds still going?

Its not that bad in there. This is a hen night so they will be making their own fun so to speak. The size of smyths/library etc mean that they have opportunity to take over a corner and make it there own while they are there.

Quite a fan of the red hen myself, think it would be perfect for that kind of night. Formally the bailey and mojos before that.

Red Hen would probably be best I'd say?

    Crafty Fox is quite enjoyable.

If you want a night to remember though, make sure to end up in Molly's or Costelloes. Magic happens there.

    Mollys!!!!

It is a hen party not a 18th birthday party

  • Registered Users Posts: 782 ✭✭✭Reiver

    Costelloes it is then!

Depends on the hen. If you are all dolled up in party dresses and heels, Costelloes might not be the best place to roll up to!

Do people still go to clohessy's?

I second and third costellos, it's awesome

Definitely stay away from costellos if youre going on a hen, its fine but not for a hen party.

If you just want a late bar, Flannerys opposite the Icon might be good. I can't imagine it'll be as rammed as Nancys, which is a joke shop on weekends.
I haven't been near Teds for years, but maybe that might be good, it would have an older crowd.
A safe bet would be Clohessys. I don't know how busy it gets on weekends. Fridays can be hit and miss in terms of crowds.
