Steering wheel noise?

So my Micra got back from the garage on Friday having had new belts and front break pads fitted. All was well until this morning when I was parking. As I went to full rotation with the wheel, it made a strained noise and the steering felt almost loose. It's grand when I drive and all feels normal until I turn fully. This definitely wasnt a problem before the breaks were fixed up. Any ideas what it could be?

    3 things it could be.
    -Low power steering fluid
-Belt slipping on power steering pump
-Power steering pump ready to go

I obviously don't know about your particular car, but on my car (2004 Toyota Rav4), when I turn the wheel and lock it fully, there's a 'groany/buzzy' kind of noise. If I move the steering wheel back about an inch, it stops. I read somewhere (owners manual, possibly) that it's not good for the car to turn the wheel the full way and lock it.

My previous car (2000 Ford Focus) made a not-so-nice noise when on full lock, too (sounded like it was coming from the wheels more so than the steering wheel itself though, if i recall correctly). Again, taking the wheel back a bit (2-3 inches if memory serves me right) got rid of it.

Could be low power steering, or could have always been there and you're just noticing it now. Either way, I'd be curious myself (maybe my power steering fluid needs refilling, too?!). Always thought it was bad practice to lock the wheel though.
