eBay 'Unclaimed' payment.

I won an auction on eBay earlier today. When I attempted to pay the seller, it stated that my payment was processing. Where it usually shows a blue € icon beside the items which have been successfully paid for, it showed an egg-timer logo instead.

Slightly worried I had a look at my PayPal account and the status of my payment stated 'Unclaimed'. Panicking slightly and without wanting to risk anything, I decided to cancel my payment. My question is will the returned funds be lodged straight back into my bank account from where they came? Also, how long would one expect for the reimbursement?

Thanks for any help (from a slightly worried buyer!).

Last purchase I made on ebay it was the same for me, the paypal status showed as unclaimed, I think buyer needs to logon into Paypal and accept the payment.

Regarding the money back to your account it should be there in a few days, some cases can take up to 7 days.

Thanks. They seller had only one previous dealings but that was a purchase. The products which I attempted to purchase were priced probably too well. Lesson learned I guess.

I've encountered this in the past also, for me it was because the seller had listed an incorrect email address in their ebay listing for his paypal. Paypal could not match it up correctly.

I contacted the seller about it and he went to eBay who corrected it for him. I think I had to 'pay' again for the auction but was never charged for the initial payment. I went into Paypal later and cancelled the initial transaction to be sure.
