The CLK needs 2 front tyres. I only really want to buy cheap enough things for it because:

    - the car is worth feck all
    - It's never driven hard
    - it does 20,000 miles a year.

I have heard that Nankang NS-2 and Nankang NS-20 are actually a reasonable tyre… Is this true?
I'm trying to avoid anything with very soft sidewalls e.g. RainExperts (but would be happy to use them at a good price!)

I would be willing to go up to about €70 a corner, what would you recommend?

Looking at www.tyrereviews.co.uk, landsail seem to be a good job for the money?

For what it's worth, I have bridgestone a001s on my car.

Cost 95 a corner and well worth it

    Are they good?

I'll be going to wicklow for them, the sidewalls are too badly cracked for more than the minimum driving.

I'm leaning towards RainSport3, Wicklow tyres will probably have them.

OP, if good new tyres are outside your budget then consider part worn premium tyres. While your car may be worth very little, your life is worth alot and tyres along with brakes are all that keep you between the ditches. :)

I'm going to leave the chinese stuff alone. I heard that the NS-2s were good but if no one here has first hand experience of them then I'll get Uniroyal/Hankook/Firestone or something of that level.

I old man got Hankooks in that size for €75 fitted over a year ago. He has no complaints with them.

Well This morning I went to Wicklow Cars to price tyres. They had chinese muck and then Bridgestone's for €85. Because that was a bit more than I wanted to pay and I would have been happy with something mid range instead of something premium I went to Wicklow Tyres. The best they could do was €90 for Semprits. In the end I went back to Wicklow Cars for the Bridgestone's:)
