Horizon UPC ISSUES! No Volume Control..

Hi guys..

Received the New horizon box yesterday and have spent 2 days wrecking my head over these issues..Note replaced with same cable setup.

First Most Important Problem I'm having: There's No Volume Control with this new horizon controller!! I have external sound system plugged into the horizon box(In same connections as last box) and now i cant control my volume from the sound system...I rang UPC Loads and they tell me it is what it is!!!! the New controller will only control my TV volume which is useless to me, I mean who uses TV volume these days..its complete madness UPC didn't give the option to switch between TV or External Sound system WTF!

IM GOING TO RETURN THIS BOX BACK TO UPC TOMORROW!!

Issue 2: Unifying new controller was a big hassle! after repeating the setup for ages it eventually worked, after this the controller started to control the TV Volume...i then try'ed to de-unify the controller with UPC's option but this didn't work i researched another option which also didn't work..at this stage I'm starting to lose it!!!

Issue 3: The Controller is NOT user friendly at all, In fact its kinda confusing as its completely different to use... without the previous arrow controls its just frustrating as you don't really know whats going on useless you switch onto the guide!

Issue 4: Favourites still haven't figured this out??!!!! and after the other problems now i don't really care!!.. I now just want back my other HD box!

Its a Pitty as there's alot of cool stuff and options with this new box, I just hope UPC reads everyone's comments and releases the NEW Horizon 2 .. i will definitely read the forms this time before randomly buying with no information on the product.

Can you explain your setup in more detail please - how is the Horizon box connected to your 'sound system'? I have the Horizon box connected to a AV receiver and can control the volume no problem.

What are you talking about when you refer to 'unifying new controller' in Issue #2 above?

My set up is exactly the same as with my last box : i literally swapped the boxes,

So i don't see why it shouldn't work the same, Hmm...Don't use a Av receiver, do i need one now??

Sound system is a standard logitec 2 way speackers/sub with a jack connection spilt going into the audio out L/R back of horizon box.

before the controller didn't control volume and after unifying it started controlling T.v volume...i was hoping it would control the logitec speackers..

Well i said it already there, but its all good got it working..just took me a while..it is easy if its works right away..maybe it was just me!

can you not just put the single jack connection into the headphones slot on your tv?

To be honest its a strange setup you have for a home surround system so it doesn't surprise me that your having trouble as the horizon box is designed around HDMI really.

yea, what your doing makes it impossible to control the volume as the horizon box doesnt have colume control.

Really you should just be using HDMI to your TV or an AV amplifier, but as you say, it used to work with your av """system""" so your choices are limited.

Favorites are listed before channel 100 and show a star beside them, there is no favorites only view

The Remote pairs to the box and used RF for everything except the Volume up and down, the tv source button and the tv power button. There are codes in the manual you enter to configure these to operate your tv.
