NCT Question

    I'm thinking about buying a car that hasn't been NCT'd for quite some time. What happens is it dated from when it was tested or is it backdated?

    NCT will be always valid until next due date.
    For original Irish cars, those due dates come at 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, etc... anniversaries of first registration.

    Also you can do your test up to 6 month early for first NCT (on 4th anniversary of first reg) and 3 months earlier on any other anniversary.

    So summarising - if you NCT that car today, you might get anything between 27 and 3 months, depending on anniversary of first registration.

    If car is imported, it might be even more complicated.

    When was the last nct? They cant give you less than 3 months anyway.
