Battery drain diagontics on diesel Octavia

    I have an issue with my battery draining on my 2010 Octavia diesel vrs. Had a new battery fitted about year ago and within past month or so the car is hard to start occasionally esp after few starts with short journeys. The fact I replaced battery about year ago and now its going same again makes me think it's not the battery itself.

    Was thinking I might try diagnose it myself with this method:

    So should I be ok disconnecting the battery for this kind of test I.e. radio codes or anything else I need to worry about?
    Also is their suggestion of normal amp draw when sitting idle correct for the Octavia?
