Moss on exterior walls

I have tried to kill it off with a few bleach solution applications but I think the weather is too cold and damp for good success.

The moss is actually growing out from in behind the paintwork .

Can I go ahead and just paint over it if I give it a few coats?

Will I succeed in burying/suffocating the moss provided they are not too well established ? (I think I have done this in the past in out of the way areas rather than do a "proper" job at the time -sometimes with big clumps of moss and I think it did kill it )

you should scrub in thick bleach and a little water, leave it for a few days, and then power hose, then your paint will go well,
but i do not agree with painting over moss or dirt,
    fail to prepare,
    be prepared to fail,
paint will not last long on wall with something keeping it from the surface like dirt or moss,

Paints too dear to be wasting.
Prep right. Wash it all off.

Will using a wire brush remove any more instead of power washing it? TIA

No, power hose will remove all moss and loose material. Wire brush will remove some, but hard on the knuckles and will create a dust which won't be healthy to breath in.
You could hire one out on the Sat of next Bank Holiday weekend and get the extra 2 days out of it free.

Use OMG! Fungicidal wash. I recently used it on a house and long wall that hadn't been painted in 10 years or more. It had Moss, algae all over it. It removed it with ease which made painting easy and gave a great finish.
