Ignition on 2010 VW Polo only turns a quarter inch

Only bought from a dealer a couple of weeks ago to learn in now cannot use at all as the ignition key will only turn about 1/4 of an inch and the engine won't fire Anyone know if this can be easily fixed or will require a call from service guys?

It's not just the steering lock is it?

Try turning the wheel while you turn the key?
